Hi Everyone,

I am new to the Adwords forum, I used to use adwords about two years ago and it looks like it has changed a fair amount since then.

I have four campaigns (general categories) set up each one has a budget set & max CPC set too. In each campaign I have say ten ad groups (targeting specific terms).

Now my question is: Will each of the ad groups set up in the campaigns show 100% of the time or will I need to have each ad group as a campaign? I ask because when I click into a campaign & click the ads tab it shows the percent served (45% for one, 15% etc etc).

Thanks,
RJ

Is it for the same site? If it is what your seeing Google is testing the different campaigns and the one that gets the best CTR is the one that will show more % of the time.

This is done to maximize spend and it tells Google what ad the people like and are drawn to click.

The % served stats are relative to all of the ads for an ad group. If you add up the %s they should equal 100%. Only one ad will show for a given search so that's why they're less than 100%. If you go to 'Campaign Settings > Ad delivery: Ad rotation, frequency capping' you'll note that you're ad rotation is likely set to 'optimized'. That's Google's default method which will show the ads with the higher CTR more often.

So, yeah, keep targeting at the ad group level. The only way your ads won't display is if you run into a budget issue or if they're not ranking on the first page due to bid or Quality Score issues.
