Tons of AdWords phishing emails going out today; I've gotten several. Claims an email change was requested on account and that you need to confirm or deny. Goes to fake AdWords page. Needless to say, everyone here is smart enough to know better, but you might want to alert your clients.

We've been getting these too and they are being sent to email addresses in the office that have never been connected to AdWords.

One was just sent to a client of mine. This one is saying your ads have stopped running due to low CTR and you need to optimise the campaign to get them running again.

I surely do wish it were the kind of world in which various sorts of scams never happened. But, unfortunately, this is not that world.

Below is a useful resource for those who wish to report suspected phishing and/or let AdWords support know if you think your account has been compromised as a result of replying to such an email.

What do I do if I receive a suspicious email claiming to be from AdWords? [adwords.google.com...]

More phishing today, this one redirects to google-dl.com and warns the ads have stopped running.

(You have to wonder why the registrars allow such obvious TM domain squatters to be taken out, but I guess that's a different conversation)

I would love to tighten up my filters I get far too many false positives to risk it. As a magazine editor I need those press releases from IT illiterates.

I have my own home grown spam and virus filter that we built (I've had one of my email addresses since 1992 - imagine how many lists I'm on) I'm not particularly worried about *my* falling for it.

We just got one too. It says our ads have stopped running and the link leads to a site that is google-sa.com. Looks extremely convincing, more so than the normal banking phishing attempts. Even has a legit link to Adwords help at the bottom of the email.

I was suspicous right off the bat because it went to a bulk email address and not to the addresses we have registered with Adwords.
