linking AdWords with Analytics. two different UA codes?

When I look in AdWords, I do have it set up to send data to Analytics. The UA code is "123xyz" (ficticiously).

In Analytics, I'm seeing data using a different UA code: "999abc" (also ficticious, but note that they are different).

Naturally, Analytics shows that I'm getting no traffic from AdWords. not true.

I'm not sure how I got into this situation, but alas... I see no way in AdWords that I can change my UA id so the two services speak to each other.

Surely I could wipe out one account or the other, and start over. I'd rather... not.

Is there a good way out of this situation? I've been scouring for about half an hour searching for a way...

Sorry this is a "help" question better directed at Google, but I've found you webmasterworld people to be so helpful... and responsive! (unlike, a-hem, well you know)

Maybe this is because I started using GA before I started using AdWords?

Do they expect sites to be set up in the reverse order?

oh, great (sarcasm). I thought I could link a new Analytics account with the AdWords account, and now I've got two Analytics accounts with the same name. I'm just making things worse.

eureka.

while wandering from page to page clicking on things, I eventually learned that my accounts were improperly linked, I needed to unlink them, then relink them. My afternoon of wandering the labyrinthine world of Google AdWords settings is over.

sigh

thank you for reading this journal of frustration
