I noticed in my content network campaigns where I target specific websites and set a maximum CPC the avarage CPC for today per website is higher then the maximum CPC. And a couple of cents higher but somewhere between 50 and 75 cents higher per click.

Example:
Target website widget.ext
Maximum CPC widget.ext: $0,50
Avarage CPC: $1,25

I have never seen this before. Anyone else seeing this today?

I have added some additional keyword to my content network targeted campaigns/adgroups so I double checked my change history for today to see if have changed the maximum bid for placements in the content network by accident for a couple of hours (and I should have made this mistake for almost all my adgroups). But in the change history for today (and yesterday) such changes are not there.

However, I did increased the maximum CPC for search in those adgroups (to $2.50) that show the mentioned problem. But... search is disabled in those campaigns so that could not be the problem. And even when search was not disabled then the maximum bid for search does not count or overule the lower maximum bid for the content network.

You might ask yourself why I increased the maximum bid for the search when search is disabled. I was only wondering if this would have effect on the quality score of the keywords (you can only see the QS in AdWords editor for keywords content-network-only campaigns) in those campaigns and decided to test it :)

While I'm typing this than the only thing I can think of why this happening is because I increased the maximum bid for search and this triggered some kind of bug with the result AdWords thinks it should use the maximum bid for search also for the website placement in the content network.

So I will change my maximum bid for search to the same maximum bid I use for the content network (just to be sure). Unless others are seeing the same problem today.

OMG, you have been banned and signed up for a new account and are asking for help from us? They are raising you up because they are getting ready to ban you again! I do not think you are going to get any good advice from Webmasterworld because most of us who can really help will not help people who are attempting to get around Google's policies. You might want to look into some blackhat forums.

Don't feed the troll. ^^^

Update: after lowering the maximum CPC for search to the same maximum CPC that is used for the content network the avarage CPC for the content network is back to normal.

I also checked other accounts I manage for clients and none of them showed the same error.

So it must have been some sort of bug triggered by the changes I made.
