Incredible shift today - Google has a bug?

Someone at Google seems to have radically altered an algorithm.

High-traffic phrase match keywords of ours that were serving 8x the impressions of the same keywords in broad match are today being outserved by the broad match keywords by a greater than 200-to-1 margin.

Anyone else seeing this today?

It could be they are tweaking the content network a bit so your ad is being served more.

This was on search, not content. Some 48 hours after emailing Google we received a reply of the usual Google variety. It seems this "may" have been caused when I raised the broad match keyword by 10%. The same keyword in phrase match was still at a bid about 70% higher than the broad match. Should this one change cause the broad match to start outserving the phrase match by a 200-to-1 margin when previously the phrase match outserved the broad match 8-to-1? These aren't cheap keywords, they are $35 and $21. I had never seen anything like this. I dropped the broad match keyword back to $19 and we returned to normal levels... Filing this in the 'anything can happen with Google' folder.

How extensive are your negative keyword lists?

Very thorough, and these aren't new campaigns.

If you run a search query report to identify exact match search queries mapping to phrase or broad match keywords, that should map to exact match keywords, you will be shocked.
