If changes are made to the LP, when does Google find out?

So I recall hearing somewhere, that Google recrawls landing pages (in terms of QS) every couple of weeks or so (don't quote me on the exact time interval, but I recall it being regularly but not that often). But what if I make changes to my LP today, in hopes of improving the QS - how do I know if Google has actually "seen" those changes? I used to switch URLs in the ads to something completely different, wait for the QS to update, then switch back to the old URL with the changes made and wait for the QS to go back thinking this made Google recrawl the URL (as they need to check the URL for each ad).

But it could also be that Google recognizes the old URL and references a cached version and thus doesn't see the changes. In any event, I'm very unsure how this works - does anyone have any insights in to this?

See when AdBot has visited your site and compare visits.

Aha thanks. And how do I check that?

There's a document somewhere that mentions "9 to 10 times per quarter" which would be about every 9 to 10 days. This is to reevaluate the landing page portion of the QS. However, if you create or edit an ad, the bot will visit within minutes and certainly within the hour the vast majority of times. Pausing and unpausing will not force the bot to visit and reevaluate.

So you're saying, if I make changes to the LP I should edit the ad in some way also to cause the bot to revisit it? What if I only change the ad title, are you sure it still revisits the URL?

I'd like to double check this by looking at visits from Adbot like smallcompany mentioned. Is it just matter of checking the logfile from the cpanel to and look for mentions of adbot?

When I want to encourage a new visit, I use a new ad, a new ad group, and move the keyword to it. If the QS isn't great to begin with, I don't care much about history, and I don't want it to poison the good keywords anyway, and I figure that with that much change, I'll get new score pretty quick.

I've been doing stuff like that too, and I think most people have their own rituals that they figure will get adbot to do a check, but it would be really interesting to nail down exactly what causes them to do a proper reevaluation.

Then make changes, and check the server logs.

Ya I'm doing that, but still want to invite people to share info they have on this - kinda the purpose of a forum

mid-January 2010, we had AdBot requests about every 12 hours, minimum one request per day. When we changed the page, the QS was updated in less than 16 hours.

If the QS is adjusted at different intervals for search and content, then the above only applies for search campaigns.
