Adwords timing

Running ads during a certain time of the day

This might sound silly, but can anyone think of a way to automatically stop and start their adwords account on a schedule every day? I find that almost all of my clicks in the evening are job seekers, which I am not interested in paying for. There is no other way to filter them out, except they tend to look after normal business hours.

I'm not aware of any setting in Adwords to do this. I suppose I could script something, but that might get me in trouble.

On a related note, what is the average delay when you pause and unpause a campaign?

Would be nice for an automated way to do this, but I do not know of one except for using 3rd party software.

Very quick. Usually no more than a minute or two max, I would say.

Farside847 is correct that there is not an automated way to do this, yet, from within your account. I'll pass on your comment, though, as a 'yes' vote for the addition of this capability in the future, travisk.

PPCBidder is correct that the update through all the servers can be really quick. During peak periods, though, (as for example, during really busy shopping seasons) it can certainly take longer.

I think of an hour as a 'usually safe' time-frame for mission-critical changes.

And then be aware that your statistics are expected to run about three hours behind. So, if you pause in this instant, you'll see stats continue to accrue for at least three hours or more.

Instead of turning off your campaign, couldn't you do something else with job seekers? e.g. you have much more control to customize your landing pages to the flavor of traffic. Lots of aff programs to monetize this kind of traffic.

On the other hand... send em my way.

Travisk, I wouldn't be so sure that there is no other way to filter them out. The problem you describe is a big issue for my staffing agency clients. If you do a path analysis by keyword you'll find that certain terms are more associated with job seekers. What's probably happening is that the distribution of your keyword universe is also changing by time of day.
