Trying to understand how to efficiently run a multi-franchise campaign.

dozens of franchisees
all keywords the same
all ads the same except for URLs

how do i get both ease of management and individual billing?

if i make each franchisee = campaign in my account, i can't have google bill the franchisees' credit cards

if i make each franchisee its own account in my MCC account, i need individual conversion codes

Separate account is the only choice in order to charge different sources of money.

Another thing to check is multiple accounts for "same same" stuff. I personally think that should not be a problem as long as Google understands they're run for different companies - that's why they opened their accounts and give you access right through your MCC.

Kind of on side, friendly thinking, really same ad text will not help - from both Google's and users' perspective.

hmm, thanks for the pointers

i was sorta figuring i was stuck on the billing thing, that's too bad

question: if the campaigns are only running within 10 miles of each franchisee (they're spread over 7 states and 1 province) and none within 100 miles of each other, is there a downside to keeping the ads and keywords identical?

question

No.

My comment was based on the assumption that ads would run on the same place at the same time causing identical text to show up on multiple occasions.

Now thinking about franchise and locations each is limited to, you are good to go in my opinion.
With that geo-spread you should not have a problem of having two or more showing to an individual at any moment.

But yeah, for billing you'll have to open new account for each.

Unless you are ready to spend your money and invoice them, but that's more complicated than separate accounts. You can still use Editor to save the time.

yes there is you said dozens of accounts so were do you suppose 24 of them will show up.

I would Geo target them so their not competing against each other and spread out the other key terms between them if there isn't a Geo for the keyword.

Thanks for the confirm. Okay if I follow up on your comment "you can still use Editor to save time"?

Editor functions in a MCC environment, including copying whole campaigns to new clients?

It does and it's terrific for mass changes. You can export, import, and even copy/paste between accounts.

Just be patient as it's bit sluggish, so some clicks seem not to be taken by it. Not much, but it is late for a part of a second which makes it different than other apps you normally run on your PC.

There are other billing options besides credit cards. You can get a single MCC bill for all accounts, a bill per account, etc. Might be useful to talk credit terms w/ Google to see the easiest way for you to set this up.
