Placement Targeted Campaign Structure

I currently have a content campaign running on automatic placements and I'm toying around with the idea of setting up a placement targeted campaign to funnel over the traffic of top performers for better control. For those currently doing this, do you typically set up multiple placements per ad group or structure things so that each ad group only targets 1 placement?

I've done it both way. It's mostly a management issue for me - if I have a *ton* of placements, it's kind of a pain to set up separate ad groups for each. On the other hand, if there's a wide variance in performance, it may make more sense to segment them by ad group, and control the bids that way.

i most often lump the goodies into a single ad group (you can still set indie bids).

It depends on the ads you create... If you tailor your ad specifically for that targeted site, you'll want each one in its own ad group.

If a single (or group of common ads) can "speak" to all the sites, then you can keep them in 1 ad group.

I usually opt for the 1 per ad group for the most control over the ad copy...

Thanks for the responses, everyone. One other question....I'm assuming that the Conversion Optimizer can used with Managed Placements. Is that accurate?
