How to check if a client is publishing on PPC without our knowledge?

Hi,

We have a reason to suspect that one of our clients is using AdWords without letting us know and thus the statistics for his site aren't accurate (organic traffic is mixed with paid traffic).

Is there any way to verify if a site is using AdWords?

Thanks!

Server logs may suggest how the traffic has been generated.

GA shows organic and PPC separated.

Use Google AdWords Ad Preview Tool and search for suspected keywords. Remember to set the appropriate geo location, language, and Google domain.

As I read this, I will admit to wondering if you have for some reason rejected the idea of simply asking the client and/or explaining your concerns to them?

Thank you smallcompany and AdWordsAdvisor!

Small company - what exactly should I look for in the logs?
AdWordsAdvison - LOL! :) True, very true...

Everyone - GA shows organic and PPC separated only if this has been properly set up. I thought about the idea of manually going through the landing pages and see if anything suspicious turns up (such as &medium=x....).

I've also continued my research and found this tool:
<snip>
Does anybody have any experience with it?

Why not just use the Google AdWords ad preview tool - [adwords.google.com...] - and check the keywords & countries where he would logically be advertising.

The tool should show you his ads if he is in fact running a program.

IT's just too much work. I was wondering if there are faster ways to get what I'm looking for...

Suspicious? using AdWords without letting you know? apparently can't just ask the client? just too much work?

More questions come to mind than answers.

When an SEO company such as us is working in a very competative environment in a country where business ethics are not very considerable, weird things happen. Believe me :)
