Hi Guys,

Is there a setting within Adwords where you can automate increasing your Max CPC during certain periods of the day?

Basically I am looking to increase the Max CPC by 20% during predicted high search periods in order to gain as many leads as possible during this time as this in turn should increase ad positions. Can this be automated in Adwords or will I need to make these changes manually?

Yes, you can do it in Campaign settings.

I am not sure I understand where this is within the campaign settings?

I currently run my campaign from 9AM until 8PM, I want to increase the Max CPC by 20% between 5PM and 8PM. From looking at the campaign settings it looks as if I change the bidding to 120% between 5PM and 8PM is resets the campaign to only run during this time period, am I missing something?

Click on the campaign you want to manage.
Click Settings
Scroll down to Advanced Settings.
In the 4th line you have: Ad scheduling ¦ Display ads all days and hours ¦ Edit
Click "Edit"
A new layer shows up. Click on Mode: Bid adjustment

And there you can adjust your bids for every day of the week.

Idolw has answered your question, but I just wanted to add that this technique is called "dayparting" if you are looking to do more research.

Personally, I have found it to be very effective. I recommend running it in conjunction with reports to show your hourly impression share for campaigns.
