Trademarked Terms

Others are using it, why can't I?

I paused an ad group a couple of years ago when I was thinking about getting out of a particular business. It had been running for quite some time with relatively good success; however, I was thinking about moving on.

Fast-forward to this week, and I decided to turn this ad group back on. It was disapproved due to the fact that it contains a trademarked term. The thing is, all kinds of other advertisers are currently using this term in their ads, and I had been using it successfully for over a year.

Any ideas on how best to handle this? I have been a reseller of the trademark owner's products since they were first invented.

Contact Google and give them few examples you compare your ads with.

Those that you see may actually be "allowed" to use TM terms in their ad texts. Owner of TM can ask Google to ban it for all except few.

Anyhow, the best would be if you could get in touch with AdWords, possibly over the phone. If not, chat, and then email as last resort.

When you say you turned the group back on, did you edit the keywords at all (change CPC, etc)? They may be disapproved from BEFORE the trademark change took effect. Try creating a new ad, or edit the CPCs and see if they get re-reviewed.

I created a new ad and jacked the CPC sky high to see what would happen... ad was rejected.
