I'm new to adwords advertsing. I set up a few ads according to Perry Marshalls book about google adwords. The ads are generating a few clicks, but I noticed that about 80% of them results in 0 time on site when I look at them with google analytics...

The page view is generated, the bounce rate is 100%, and time on site = 00:00:00

Can anyone give any insight on this? are they fraudulent clicks?

No, these users just didn't click on any other link on your site. It's impossible for Analytics to know how long someone looks at your page after he opened it.

HI,

Thanks for the reply. I did do some research on it and found time on site = pageview 1 - pageview x = time on site. Doesn't seem very accurate? Of course it all comes down to conversions so who cares about time on site

Sujan has probably hit the nail on the head. If you are using Google Analytics, it is tracking usage by triggering a javascript on each page load. GA determines time on site as the period between the first page load and the last page load. If a visitor leaves directly from the landing page, GA only has one datum to work with and consequently shows a time on site of zero.

Depending on the amount of traffic you're looking at, you may want to address whether the landing page has a clear and compelling call to action. For many sites GAW tends to have a higher bounce rate than other traffic sources, but 80% is pretty high.
