We suggest using "Red Widgets, Blue Widgets & more" instead."
Never had a clue that a comma could be so important so re-read the guidelines & had a look at what others ads are doing. One of our competitors has (in no 1 spot):
Designer Products
48 Styles to choose from!
Great Prices, Quality Service

So - is it ok to use exclamation marks & 'great prices' but not commas? Makes me feel like dumping the ad, but thought would see what you guys think.....any feedback would be appreciated
I got one for superlatives, for stating -
"the net's largest widget store"
I was told not to use "largest". Which I found a little frustrating as the fact that it *is* the net's largest widget store cannot be disputed.
And I got one for using "&" in the title instead of "and".
Interesting Fact: If you do a Google search on "matrix reloaded" it brings back an ad that is solely a list of keywords. (Although I don't think it will be there for long!)
I don't know what Adwords is wanting for sure, but I see one point right off.
Essentially, your ad says you have "Apples, Banannas, and Apples."
Most consumers will accept you have 2 choices or 3 choices, but something inside us reacts when we're being offered 2 choices presented as 3. Something just says, so why do you have bananas when you so obviously only want to sell me an apple?
In this case, it's especially daunting because humans often like options 2 and 3 better than 1. (notice how sometimes the position 2,3 and 4 adwords have a higher CTR than position1?)
First, you're subtly discounting option 2 by mentioning option 1 twice. So this leaves us with option 3. That would be fine, if it wasn't the same item as option 1, which is internally discounted in many shoppers minds.
You'll need to either list 3 items or 2 items and a special feature.
(Starfruit, Golden Delicious Apples, Speed Shipping)
..in which case list your most exotic/interesting item first, your best seller/core product second.
I could have misunderstood your exact wording because of the required cloaking for the products, so if you want to sticky me your ad, I'll look at it and see if there's a better solution.
Dian :)
Sorry, I confused the issue by not using my actual copy (newbie & not used to subbing 'widgets' in postings!)
To clarify, there were no repeats of any of the words.
Got pulled up purely for lack of of commas :

Had run this ad for some time previously with reasonable click through rate of around 9% so happy that the copy was doing its job.....
Now re-written the ad & awaiting re-approval......
