I'm kind of a newbie here, but I was wondering, Google says that they track invalid clicks, but when are refunds given?

Is it at the end of a certain period they go back and refund your account with any fraudulent click charges, or do the clicks just show up in the Manager with no cost ($0.00)?

Any help would be great,

thanks.

Once in a while I get "Adjustment - Click Quality" items in my Billing Summary. This month, I've had two such adjustments totaling a whopping 0.0047% of my August ad spend. I don't know why they even bother.

Don't hold your breath waiting for any significant refund from Google.

Hello CWebguy,

Since you mention being new, you may be interested to see these four pages (from among others) in the AdWords Help center, which will give you some basic info:

How does Google detect invalid clicks?
[adwords.google.com...]

How does Google respond to instances of invalid clicks?
[adwords.google.com...]

What kinds of clicks does Google consider invalid?
[adwords.google.com...]

How will Google credit my account for invalid clicks?
[adwords.google.com...]

Excerpting a portion of the last page page mentioned above:

[...] If we discover that you've been charged for invalid clicks in the past two months, we'll apply credits to your account. [...]

The glass is half empty uh? How about "yay, looks like my topic doesn't suffer from too much click fraud".

Yep, me too. So I bought my wife a new car with the refund.

(I'm exaggerating... and don't have a wife.)

Well, my main question is, does this mean that invalid clicks initially aren't even reported? (Like they never happened and I'm assuming the impression for those clicks too).

Yes, the invalid clicks are not shown anywhere in the regular stats. But you can see them summarized in the Campaign Performance or Account Performance reports -- [adwords.google.com...]
