In India, Reserve Bank of India made it mandatory from 1st August, that every online credit card transaction should go through MasterCard Securecode or Visa Verified by Visa authentication, just to add an extra layer of security.

As I pay AdWords bill via my credit card, yesterday I received an email from Google requesting to fill-up a credit card authorization form and send it to their India office via courier, alongwith photocopy of front and back of my credit card.

All you know, back of credit card contains CVV no. printed.

I have full faith on big companies like Google, Yahoo etc. But still I fear sending the photocopy of front and back of my credit card via snail mail to someone I don't know. The envelope may be forged during transit etc. etc.

Also, the issuing bank always asks not to disclose the CVV to anybody in the world.

In this condition, what should I do? Should I send the back of the card with CVV removed?

The answer will help all Indian advertiser?

What do you think AdWords Advisor?

There is no choice. I have already done the needful.

Tracking Card usage carefully in the next few months to check any suspicious activity.

I, too, submitted the photocopies. There is no other choice. But No need to worry because it has become so much difficult to use Credit Card now with new RBI rules. We won't be able to use it without VBV layer. So even if others get the CVV number they won't be able to make any transactions. New RBI rule is really a bad one and has put up lots of restrictions on regular Credit Card users.

For security reasons, wouldnt it be better if Google requested this information be updated within the Google Adwords Interface?

I'm sure a lot of people would prefer that option.
