Ok I have 3 ad groups in my ad campaign. Each ad group advertises 3 very different but similar products. Some of the keywords I use throughout these 3 ads are the same. Am I competing with myself for these keywordS?

Yep. You can't double or triple serve, so you are most certainly competing with yourself.

Yes. You might want to try some negative keywords, if possible.
