Hi has anybody tried using the MCC promotional credits for their own campaigns. I am considering using them for my own campaigns after I pass my exam. Will this get my account in trouble? If I can't use the credits it is such a waste.

I don't think you can use them for yourself. My understanding is that they're for new accounts, but I haven't used one in a while so maybe the rules have changed.

don't do it. they are more valuable to you as a consultant anyhow.

But I don't think I'll be able to get clients. Anyway I search through the adwords help and they never say "never use mcc credits for your own campaigns". This give me a reason to try. Has anybody tried?

They do say what they are for, though as you said, they may not specifically list explicit forbidden uses. In my mind, this is part of the rewards for a professional certification, so they expect you to act like a professional. Your own accounts linked in your MCC aren't new clients. Do as you please, but I'd suggest again that the real value in these credits is in helping you overcome your "I don't think I'll be able to get clients".

Your prospective clients can't get these on the street - G is putting you in a position reflecting professionalism, authority, competence, connectedness and leverage. Use it!

Only certified people get the promo credits, and they're for new clients - you're so close to overcoming that hurdle, now is not the time to treat it like a token coupon that saves you a few bucks. Having come this far, you are above that kind of behavior.
