I have been doing some research today and I normally don't use the sponsered ads as I know it cost them money and most of the time I don't need to click on paid ads. (I am an advertiser myself)

During my research I clicked on 6 paid ads 2 were infected, my computer protected me from the threats, but now I really don't trust the paid ads for any information.

I sit here wondering if I clicked on just 6 ads and 2 were infected that is 33% of the ads infected. I know or hope this isn't close to correct but this could cause huge issues if something isn't done to take the sites off.

The searches were in the medical field and not p----.

I still need to do my reseach but will stick with the organic results and dig deeper into the organic results for my information.

Do you think this is just an isolated thing or are others finding higher than normal infected sites through the paid results?

Try searching for and clicking some more ads at [google.com...] (no impressions or clicks will be counted there) and you can get a better idea for yourself.

Not any were close to the actual results shown in the search results. Did the same seach and completely different paid results.

http://www.google.com/sponsoredlinks (no impressions or clicks will be counted there)

Rehan note that this is not true. Your clicks and impressions will be counted when using this link.

It is a live Google page and is brought up when you click on the "More Sponsored Links" link located below the last sponsored listing on a SERP.

The link for testing where the clicks and impressions are not counted is actually:

[adwords.google.com...]

hope that helps.

EvilSaint, you can read [adwords.google.com...] to see that what I wrote is true.

That page also explains how the ads shown there are different from the ones on the regular search page. The reason I pointed out the Sponsored Links search is so bwnbwn could choose to click on a wider variety of ads to see the landing pages and figure out the prevalence of infected sites through the paid results.

Personally, I don't recall ever coming across an ad landing page that was infected. But that is probably in large part because I generally just click on retail industry ads and not much in other niches.

Rehan I am really not trying to figure out the prevalence of infected sites I was just pointing out that the one time I did use the sponsered ads in my research I came across 2 infected sites on 6 clicks.
I am pretty sure most memebers here are like me and tend to not click on the sponsored results just caught me by suprise on the % of infected sites I found.

I work in the medical field and I find your comments disturbing, and they would put people clicking on my ad so I am checking their validity. I have never found an infected adword ad. Call me naive, but G automatically checks landing pages and surely would spot this?

Oh, I assumed the question you asked in your original message was what the point of this thread was about (because the thread title is not meaningful, so there was nothing else to go on). :-)

As for the infected sites, Google uses StopBadware.org for its organic results... I wonder if it does the same for the ad landing pages? BTW, there's an ad feedback form at [adwords.google.com...] that allows anyone to report problems with ads.

doctor gerlis that is why I posted this as I to found it very distrubing. As I said in my post I very rarely click on sponsered ads and the one time I do I get 2 sites that were infected.
I just thought it was very odd I happened to find such a high percentage in the limited research I was conducting.

Thanks Rehan I am aware of that link. The infected sites have been pulled from the results so I guess I just happened on them before Googles bot had a chance to spider them and see the server had been hacked.

I am reading more and more servers being hacked and from this report I can see the problem Google is facing in keeping the ads clean.
