Google Keyword Tool Help, Where Did Average Search Volume Go?

Google removed the average search volume by country, why?

Oddly I haven't seen anyone post about this here, but its caused some grief within the agency world as Google now no longer shows the average search volume by country.

This was very important tool for understanding season trends, and was used in many agency reports and of course was a key metric for keyword research and budgeting.

Google last week removed this metric from the keyword tool, while we welcome the addition of the average global search volume as this saves us a secondary search, the removal of the average search volume for the country selected was critical.

[Does anyone know] why this was done, if we can expect to see it coming back in the near future and if not can we see Google updating the API so that we can directly access the exact match, average search volume by country via the API?

Thanks,
Stephen

Just bumping. Would be nice to get some feedback on what are the current changes in the Keyword Tool as they do have quite an impact.

Hi Woz,

I have spoken to Google outside of WW and the team is looking at this, but the better news is the API team also got back to me in that they will be adding this function to the API tool, but they do not know when.

While that is good news, Google has had many things on the API list and every time they do an update they miss the boat on adding the things we really need like, exact search volume and now the average search volume for countries, so I don't hold my breath and around the office the joke is while its on the list its right below taking over the world, so if we all have the google chip installed in our brains then we are only 1 more task away from getting the API updated...
