I'm an AdSense publisher. From time to time I replace AdSense on some of my pages with YPN ads. When I do this, I still get relevant ads, but very different ads. I see ads displayed by YPN from large and small companies yet I don't ever see those same ads/companies on AdSense, and vice versa.

I'm curious as to some of the reasons why advertisers, AdWords advertisers in particular, choose one over the other.

Yahoo gives large agency rebates, so it attracts the big budgets of bigger companies, it is also easier to buy and manage a Yahoo account, which again lends itself to the large agencies/clients.

The only problem with Yahoo is they don't have enough smaller advertisers to fill out all the content on the Internet and while the systems are easy for an agency to manage for a end client Yahoo system is a nightmare to manage.

If your website is very specific and on a high paying keywords with 90% or more US traffic then YPN can be good, but sadly most sites get a lot of traffic outside of the US and a lot of pages/content that isn't very specific and is why overall Google performs better.

The best situation, which Google says they doesn't allow, would be to run YPN on your main key pages and Google on the other pages, then IP deliver Google ads to users that arrive from outside of the US and on pages on the site that are not so specific.

I stopped running YSM for my clients when Yahoo changed their terms and conditions in a way we didn't want to have to worry about. We weren't getting much in the way of conversions there anyway; some niches were way more expensive than Google (and some way less)

When I did run ads on Yahoo, they were pretty much the same ones I ran on Google.
