Sorry to post this here as well as the yahoo forum, but I believe more of you look at this forum and I desperately need input see below:

"Over the weekend yahoo charged my credit card additional amounts not related to ad clicks, first £1100, then £3500 finally £12,000 so my credit card statement shows £16,100 charges to yahoo. (I usually only spend £10 per day on yahoo). The cc company will not intervene (why not?) and have left it to yahoo to sort out. Yahoo have not explained how this happened, and have said it may take up to 10 days to get a refund.

The fact that this happened over a weekend makes me very suspicious that something bad has been attempted. If they have taken my money by mistake, why can't they give it back today. I am in danger of going over my overdraft limit on the card. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? "

doctor gerlis what I am thinking may be happening is you have somehow enabled the automatic add funds link and yahoo is adding enough funds for 3 days of clicks.
I had a new employee add an account to yahoo and this same thing happened.
Check all your settings and see if this isn't the problem then contact Yahoo and request a refund, they will issue you one but it does take about 10 days to get the refund credited back to the card.

Thanks bwnbwn, but it appears that someone has logged in to add £16,500. I am aware that sometimes people then try to run their own ads using clicks to use up this amount, but at present this does not appear to have happened. Also I do not know how my security was compromised, I have not given my login details to anyone. They do not appear to have changed my daily usage which was set at £30 only.

I am getting a refund, and Yahoo have been very helpful. I am dismayed at the credit company who could have taken a more proactive and less passive stance. I am still not clear as to how this fraud may have progressed however if I had not spotted it.
