As AWA mentioned in one of his posts:
Essentially, the higher the percenatage of keywords that one has which are performing well in 'normal' status, the more 'in trial' spots will be available.
I understand that:
normal -> no limit on number of spots for each account
in trial -> limit, depending on the account performance or (no. of normal)/(total keywords)
on hold -> no limit for each account.
Since number of spots for "in trial" is limited. Once the limit has reached, all the remaining keywords with lower CTR on Google search will be allocated to "on hold" status. If some of "in trial" keywords were promoted to normal or dropped to disabled status, some of the "on hold" keywords would be promoted to "in trial" for replacement. That is one way. Other ways? Will the following actions do the same?
-Delete some "in trial" keywords
-Pause some campaigns or ad groups which contains a higher percentage of the "in trial" keywords.
My other questions will be:
1. Will the "in trial" spots reduce due to deletion of the normal keywords in the account?
2. Does the "total keywords" include all the disabled keywords which have not deleted in the account?
3. Does the paused keywords (normal & in trial) include in the calculation of the mentioned percentage?
4. Does it make any difference if the "on hold" keyword is re-introduced after it was deleted?
Thanks for sharing
