Is this how AdsBot-Google normally behaves?

Does the landing page really matter at all?

Just starting out with Adwords and have seen this behaviour which to me seems odd.

AdsBot visited only once, grabbed the html and has not been seen since. I've uploaded 20+ landing pages, changed the file extension and have not seen it since I started the Campaign.

How often does the AdsBot visit? Does it check every landing page? How can it calculate a QS using the landing page as a variable without seeing the landing page? I understand that my initial QS is based on historical data but when will AdsBot come to visit again?

Details:
17/03/2009 12:00 PM
Uploaded first html landing page
- AdsBot visits this page, only the html is downloaded

17/03/2009 12:04 PM
Mozilla user agent with a Google IP address vists again, downloads same html and swfobject.js

17/03/2009 12:05 PM
Mozilla user agent with another Google IP address downloads only the landing page Flash file.

17/03/09
Uploaded 19 more html landing pages

18/03/09
Deleted existing html files, replaced with php files

No more AdsBot visits.

Posted too soon.

Some Google IPs checked our landing pages 8 days later.

Appears to be automatic as no images were downloaded.

If you allow both Googlebot and adsbot-Google to crawl your site, then you may not always see adsbot-Google request a page.

If Googlebot visits a page, sometimes the AdWords system will use that information to calculate quality score as opposed to sending more resources (i.e. adsbot) back to that page.

Thanks again eWhisper,

we've actually had a very wobbly server this week. And I banned the Googlebot because of dupe worries.

I'm thinking of changing the landing URL to force(?) a revisit. Hopefully that will work.

Cheers.
