Starter versus Standard Edition

Any disadvantages?

Hi Guys

I am a newbie with Adwords.

I have just set up an Adwords Starter account, and its going well. I am thinking of upgrading to the Standard Edition. As I can see it has a few advantages.

Are the any disadvantages of going to Standard - eg extra cost ?

Nope, there are a lot of advantages (like being able to switch off the content network) but disadvantages that I can think of

No additional fee is needed for graduating from starter account to standard account.

It'll take more of a learning curve (going through the posts here will be an excellent resource, as well as the AdWords Learning Center) but it'll be well worth it.

I thought I'd jump in as well, to agree that the Standard Edition is *much* more full-featured than the Starter Edition - and also mention that over the years I have seen more than a few advertisers who found the Standard Edition to be a bit overwhelming at first.

My advice would be to think about graduating, while expecting in advance that it will take some time until you really feel comfortable with the many many new options available to you. This is the learning curve as mentioned by netmeg, and I quite agree with her that it is worth it.
