Newbie Question about Adwords

I just started with adwords and in 24 hours had about 150 clicks with a CTR of about 4%. Not sure if that's a good percentage or not, but I didn't get one sale and only had one email from it all after spending $75. Obviously I can't spend that much daily with no sales.... I'm trying to figure out what I might be doing wrong. I'm selling a high demand electronics product that others are selling for more than my price. My site doesn't look as good as I want but I think it looks o.k. Also, I am only accepting Google Checkout for payment and wonder if that has anything to do with things?

Just wondering if anyone would care to shed some light on things for me? My site spelled backwords is selasnoitcualla.com - Just don't want it indexed, thanks!

It's so hard to say without seeing your site/competitors and knowing exactly what you are selling. Take a look at your biggest competitors. What are they doing on their site that would cause someone to buy from them rather than you?

I don't personally have a G checkout account and would not set one up just to purchase from you, especially if there are dozens of other merchants offering the same product for a similar price. You may want to consider accepting other forms of payment.

If I were you, I'd probably pause that campaign and spend some time reading through this forum.

Some of the things I would tell you I've recently posted here:

But pause that account! You don't want it running up a lot of money until you have a little better handle on things.

Thanks for your input. I will pause things now and try to figure it out from here....

Welcome to WebmasterWorld nndavis7. ;)

Since you mention that you are new to AdWords, I'd like to point you to one of my favorite pages from the AdWords Help Center which is a good source of insight on how to think about AdWords - and how set up an AdWords account for success:

Tips for success
[adwords.google.com...]

The topics covered on that page - which are essential to using AdWords effectively in my opinion:

1. Identify your advertising goals.
2. Organize your account for maximum effectiveness.
3. Choose relevant keywords and placements.
4. Create straightforward, targeted ads.
5. Optimize your website for conversions.
6. Track your account performance.
7. Test and modify your campaigns to get the results you want.
