According to my adwords stats I am between 2and and first place at all times, BUT When I view my ad in google under certain keywords I see that Im in about fifth place.

Now, I understand that when google counts placement they are doing averages based on all placements in the partner networks as well as google.

BUT while 1-2and place may be my average...my GOOGLE placement is taking the short end of the stick.

Im not sure what to do about this. Id also like to know my average google placement (not counting partner sites) but Im not sure thats possible either.

I suppose I could increase my bid but without some numbers to crunch Im not sure if that would even be profitable.

Any ideas are welcome

When viewing your stats, use the "Split: Google search/search partners/content network" option to show the Ad Groups' breakdown for each of those distribution channels.

And when you're checking ads, make sure you do it through [google.com...] ... It has two benefits:
1) you will not incur any impressions
2) the ad position will not be affected by your own search history

Hopefully this way you'll have a better view of how your ads are being shown.
