Hello ALL

I am newbie here and was hoping someone can help me. This is a little long winded so I hope you can bare with me....

I have been in business for a few years now and have a shop up until about 2 yrs ago I did the majority of my selling there but realised that the internet was a good way to reach customers.

Initially I sold my products on Ebay and everything was great, I was making good money and it was relatively easy. Then things on Ebay changed more competition, higher fees, more rules now it has gotten to the point where we were making a loss when all things are considered.

So I decided to have an E-commerce site built and take control myself and keep more of my profits which I had done shortly before Xmas (which is usually our busiest time) so I bought in extra stock and thought I would sell tonnes through my site but it never happeded.....

To be honest I was naive and maybe even stupid to think it would work that easily I didn't realise there were quite a few important factors in making an E-commerce site successful. II have found someone to help me with SEO but they have told me that this will take at least 6 months to see good results and they have sugessted in the mean time I try to use adwords and I tried to use it but it seemed that I was literally throwing money down the drain.....

My ROI was shockingly poor so I have done a little further research and now understand that adwords is quite complex and what I am basically asking are there any experts here who can help me understand the basics such as what I should expect to invest and what my return will be and where and who I should approach to help me?

I am in an industry dominated by large corporate companies in theory I should be able to compete with relative ease but it's getting my company name out there which is the problem I am having.

I dont have the time to learn everything myself but as with most things want to understand the basics, the problem I'm finding is there are so many companies out there offering help I have no idea who I should approach and what to believe?

Any advice?

Thanks

You will have a hard time finding anyone able to give you numbers. Adwords is too complex for that. Try reading the adwords learning pages, they will help a bit. Otherwise, hire someone.
