More keywords or more ad groups?

I'm working on a group of campaigns that are targeted to only the US and Canada and am having a hard time getting my impressions up (and of course my clicks, conversions).

I'm trying to reach 300,000 impressions per day, which normally hasn't been a problem, but I have a not-so-great landing page (developers are working on it) and it seems that perhaps the US/Canada market targeting is off.

Do I need more keywords per ad group or perhaps more targeted ad groups?

What is a good number of keywords to have per keyword group? I've heard numbers as low as 20-40, but that seems too low.

Can you suggest any good keyword building tools for content network targeting?

From the training I have had with Google they recommend 5-15 themed terms. They said the more terms you included the more confined they are with displaying your ad.

I have to say I didn't really believe it but I tried it and had better results.

Try creating 3 different AdGroups, one for the direct product/service, one for a complimentary prod/service and a 3rd targeting the audience demographic.

Give it a try and see how well it works.
