Adwords the good and the bad.

Rant from a desperate advertiser

Ok let's start from the beginning. I'm an adwords customer for about 3 years. Had a campaign running non stop for 2 years. In August the campaign stopped but I really didn't care much and thought my very low cpc was now not enough for my ads to show on search results.

Anyway a few weeks ago I started doing some lead based SEM for a client using my adwords account. The ads wouldn't start, contacted support and they informed me my account had had unauthorized access, they would analyse the situation possibly refund me and make my account work again.

The good:

Adwords was kind enough to issue a refund.

The bad:

I had no warning whatsoever of this security breach. Only when contacted support I was informed of this. The account is still on hold since weeks ago...

New account for client

I then created a new account for my client and (wrongly or not) linked this account to my MCC. Ads ran for a couple of days and stopped. Contacted support, "account is under review". Ads started again only to stop shortly after.... Now sometimes I get a budget exceeded message with a spend of $5 and a daily budget of $200.
Contact support again, waiting...your account is under review... ads start again, stop again...

I've already killed my MCC account access to this account because I thought this might be a problem considering the security breach on the other account.

I've had multiple support chats and emails exchanged with support. Something is definitely wrong and I really don't know what else to do...

Any ideas?

It sounds like you had a number of circumstances hit at around the same time.

As far as the security breach - I'm not surprised they didn't contact you; for all they know, if they contact the email address on record, and that's the source of the breach, then it doesn't get to you anyway. As a general rule, it's probably not good to leave an account for anything sit where you've got a credit card on file.

As for your account being under review - probably nothing you can do about that until they finish. Keep hitting up support for a status update.

Well talked to support once again. They said the account was not under review. Bu it seems the account is capped at $10 a day spend....

They were as usual quite nice and receptive but then it all ends up getting forwarded to specialist, and till now unresolved.

Really nerve recking all this...
