I just discovered that one of my many Google accounts/services has expired billing information, Whoops!
At least from my perspective Google has made a huge assumption. What's that you say; THAT I ACTUALLY CHECK MY MAIL in the GOOGLE LOGIN gmail account. (gmail.com).
Certainly a DUH on my part, BUT remember the history:
We all have many ways to access Google's literally dozens of services, and of course we all know that Google unified the LOGIN process, coincidentally, again in my opinion using a gmail.com domain name! To me the purpose of this was solely to integrate the account access process.
I believe it was the Google CheckOut service where I finally acquiesced and opened my first gmail account. This account still has my primary contact email address as another email domain I frequently use and monitor.
It appears Google NOW HAS ASSUMED it may use your GMail Email address for it's notifications for some of it's services.
I have an Adwords account that I monitor infrequently, because it does exactly what I need. Well guess what? I finally logged in, actually for no particular reason other than I think I should login to all my accounts occasionally, and I find out my billing information has been out of date since August and if I don't update it soon my ads will be cut off.
Google has not attempted to contact me using any other email address or by conventional mail, addresses that were readily available even in the Adwords account.
NOW, when I check my Adwords account I find no sign, whatsoever, of the email address which I used to open the account originally in March of 2004, well before the integration of LOGINS using gmail.com domain names.
Of course now a days this integration has caused many inconveniences. A big one being you are pretty much forced to log out to do a search without being monitored by Google because I'm already signed into my Adwords, Adsense, Google Search, Google Checkout, Google API ?, etc, etc, accounts. Of course there's work arounds. It seems like now, sometimes, I'm signed into Google, when I start up Firefox at the Firefox home page !
One final conundrum:
Google is sending me emails to my traditional Adsense account email and also sending what appears to be duplicates to my GMail Login account. So I think I'm up to date on Adsense, but perhaps they will stop mailing to my old email address for Adsense soon.
Well anyway be warned ! Perhaps my DUH, Nah!
