How can I return to my previous bid/positions?

Hi

For the past 6 months I have maintained a top position for keyword and only paying £0.02 /£0.01 per click and getting 30% CTR. I am normally the only advertiser. Last week I had a Chinese affiliate Spammer who thought it was clever to stick 6 adverts for this keyword. This meant I was pushed down to 5th position. I increased my bid to counteract it and reported the spammer to google.

The spammer has gone. However google is now asking me for £0.05 to feature me in the top bar. If I choose to bid my normal £0.02, I will remain over on the right hand side, and my CTR will be around 7%

How can I return to my previous bid/positions?

I imagine your only hope is time. I get the sense that a keyword's history for all accounts affects its quality parameters and hence it's pricing structure.

They have made changes to the way an ad can appear in the positions above the results. The ads must meet a quality threshold now so it doesn't matter if there is no other advertisers, if your quality isn't high enough, you'll not get there.
