I have checked all my settings, forms, landing pages, code, AdWords control panel, conversion code settings, and all seems okay.
What is even weirder I clicked one of our own ads this morning, went through the full sign up process so Google should have recorded that as a conversion, my click does not show in the control panel.
Is anyone else having these issues? Any suggestions for a solution?
In May, I noticed conversions recorded in Adwords being way down. It was at the same time they relaunched their site, totally new copy mainly for the purpose of SEO and better organic rankings. Looking at the new site before the relaunch, I thought the new text (basically only the copy was changed) would seriously affect conversions and predicted they would be lower.
My prediction, as far as I could tell with the information I have in their Adwords account, was right. However, they swear they are making more sales than this time last year and still very happy with my service.
My guess now? More visitors are calling their toll-free number than buying online. This figure used to be about 50/50 and now seems to be more like 20/80. Client is still happy but obviously the change of the web copy has brought a change in the way their customers buy. If I were to guess why, the copy is unclear but they still want the product and making the effort to call and find out more. The sale is closed by phone with a live person, not by the site.
This may not apply to you but maybe to others.
On my own AdWords account I have long had conversion tracking installed. I just checked my conversion settings in AdWords and they are GONE! You know they changed to a new script several months ago.
For me, I had to grab new code and then reinstall on all thank you pages. Mystified how it disappeared in the control panel.
For my client, this was not the case, just a stoppage of conversions.
Could be the economy or as you say may be more phone calls.
