Aside from that they did incorporate some little tweaks that help such as giving users the ability to auto-size the columns and reduce or enlarge the viewable area by a percentage (look on the lower right hand corner of the new editor).
However most of us are still waiting to see the quality score with numeric value in the editor which is where it seems that Google will first place this info.
As it stands the new editor does not include QS scoring so we still have to log into the interface and hover over the keyword analysis tool (magnifying glass) to see how "Great", "Ok" or "Poor" a keyword is.
I've already requested from our reps at Google that they be more transparent and display the actual grade right under the QS score so we'd see something like this:
keyword1
OK
7/10
keyword2
Great
9/10
If you guys think this makes sense (especially to help with optimizing campaigns that have been Google slapped) then please request this feature to your reps as well.
I heard talk of Yahoo releasing something similar to Editor in the next 6-9 months, anyone else?
I've not heard any mention of it, but about a month ro so ago I got a survey from a company representing Yahoo, which I seem to get fairly frequently, and there were loads of questions about a tool. This leads me to believe there will be something soon.
I sure hope it's better than MSN's desktop tool!
"In terms of the problem you mention in using the new version of AdWords
Editor, you're not alone! Our technical team has identified a known issue
affecting MCC (My Client Center) users that is preventing advertisers from
using the Keyword Opportunities tool. The current workaround is to access
the sub-account directly. So if you open up one of your client's accounts
instead of your MCC in Editor, you should be able to get to the tool."
Are any of you who use the editor on a direct account still experiencing this problem? If so, let me know and I'll make sure to pass the feedback along to Google. In the meantime I guess we'll just have to be patient awhile longer... :(
Thanks!
"procedure entry point JS_alreadyhasownucproperty could not be located in dynamic link library js3250.dll" etc errors
I rebooted a few times then gave up and I did a roll back and now the previous version yet that now doesn't start, I uninstalled it then looked on adwords editor site and can't find the previous version to intall
anyone know where I get a copy of Version 6.0.1 from ?
[edited by: ShaneRbn21 at 9:20 pm (utc) on Oct. 10, 2008]
after uninstalling 6.5.0 I reinstalled 6.0.1 from the add/remove programs menu but I had to uninstall that as it just wouldn't load despite repairing and rebooting etc. and I downloaded 6.5.0 again after doing a full registry clean etc. and am still getting the same error "procedure entry point JS_alreadyhasownucproperty could not be located in dynamic link library js3250.dll" and then the xcom error thing
grrrrr why on earth do they release updates without testing them properly, I'm away all next week so have to get it working on my laptop..
anyone got a link to 6.0.1 so I can re download it ?
I installed it but it won't start for me :( all hope is lost, I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it rebooted many times and still can't get it to start.
am not a happy bunny with google's editor coders to say the least.
Been too long since I was here & this thread reminds me of its value. I also 'upgraded' to AWE 6.5.0 & deleted my old installation file. I've now re-installed several times trying to get the Keyword Opportunities tool to work. A frustrating waste of time...
Xurxo, thanks for the work around tip.
When I came back, however, this thread immediately caught my eye - and I sent a link to the thread to the AdWords Editor team, as I knew they'd be very interested in your feedback.
Late last night one of my colleagues on the AdWords Editor team sent me the response I have quoted to below, and asked if I'd post it here. Of course, I am delighted to so so - and here it is:
Thank you for your feedback in this thread, and we'd like to address three of the concerns raised here.First, some of you encountered an error when upgrading to the new version of AdWords Editor on Windows. The error is related to the step in the installation process where you specify who can use AdWords Editor (either 'Everyone' or 'Just me'). If you select a different option from what you selected in the previous version, you'll see an error message when you run the application.
To resolve the problem, follow the steps at [google.com...] To prevent the same issue from happening with future upgrades, we recommend you don't change this setting from the default ('Just me'). If you continue using the default setting in future upgrades, the problem won't occur again.
Secondly, some of you have had trouble gaining access to the Keyword Opportunities tool. This issue is specific to My Client Center (MCC) accounts. We're planning a service release that will fix this issue, so please stay tuned.
Finally, we've heard reports of overall slowness. We're investigating performance issues and hope to make improvements soon. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.
I do apologize to those who have posted here for not having brought your feedback to the attention of the AdWords Editor folks more quickly - but I made a reasonably serious effort to not think too much about AdWords (and all my AdWords related responsibilities) while I was away. And I was mostly successful.
I did miss being a part of things, though - and I'm very glad to be back. I am thankful I did not take that planned two month leave - as I am not sure I could have stood being so out of touch for such an extended period of time. :)
Anyway, my apology for your frustration with AE 6.5.0 - and please know that your feedback has been heard by exactly the right folks.
I do take some real pleasure, though, in seeing exactly how important it is to you that AdWords Editor works as you expect it to. It indicates to me that it's valuable to you, and that makes me very happy indeed.
Best to you all,
AWA
Thank you for your email and reporting this issue as you are not able to
accept the 'Terms and Conditions' button while installing AdWords Editor
on your Mac. Our engineers are aware of the issue and are actively
investigating it. We hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible.
However, in the meantime you can use the workaround below to achieve your
desired goals.
* Start AdWords Editor and review the terms and conditions. Be sure to
read the whole thing. You will not be able to click accept, though, so
click on cancel instead. This will close AdWords Editor.
* Using a text editor, open the file in your home directory at
Library/Application
Support/AdWords-Editor/Profiles/[some-random-eight-character-string].default/localstore.rdf
* Look for the line in the file that reads as follows:
<RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://ape/content/ape.xul">
* Use the editor to add 2 new lines around this line, one before, one
after, so that when you're done this part of the file reads EXACTLY AS
FOLLOWS:
<RDF:Description
RDF:about="chrome://ape/content/ape.xul#ape-main-window" termsversion="1"
/>
<RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://ape/content/ape.xul">
<NC:persist
RDF:resource="chrome://ape/content/ape.xul#ape-main-window"/>
* Save localstore.rdf and exit the text editor
* Restart AdWords Editor. You will be brought to the main application
window without further need to review the terms and conditions.
This did the trick for me.

adwords_editor.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point sqlite3_perpare_v2 could not be located in the
dynamic link library sqlite3.dll
The program displays this a few times and then exits. I never get to see
the editor.
I've been told TWICE by google support to uninstall, remove directories from my documents, download, and re-install but the problem does not go away.
Hmmm maybe someone should take a look at this sqlite3 message?
I even sent a screenshot to google support but they just keep saying the same thing that I've told them doesn't fix it. This is so frustrating when I have clients with campaigns to update etc.
As for installing under "just me" or "everyone" I can't remember what I had it under last time - if there's a problem with not liking a different setting then the s/w should NOT ASK me.
I myself have no idea what I installed it under last time - I'm the only one that uses my computer, and very few programs ask me that question. How am I supposed to remember that?
And not having anyone else from Google to pop in and see what's going on in the user forums after a new release of a tool - I realize you were on vacation, AWA, but surely *someone* could have stopped by to see what the feedback was.
And yea, the frustration is because it is such a necessary tool now, that we're really hamstrung without it. And I always get frustrated when Google costs me the one commodity I have in short supply (time) when I'm just trying to make more money for them, myself, and my clients.
Now I have to go try to install it AGAIN.
Oh yea:
To resolve the problem, follow the steps at [google.com...] To prevent the same issue from happening with future upgrades, we recommend you don't change this setting from the default ('Just me'). If you continue using the default setting in future upgrades, the problem won't occur again.
Going to this url right now gives the message:

We're sorry, but we are unable to display this page at this time. Please try again in a few moments. If you continue to get this error, please contact Neotonic Trakken Support at support@trakken.com.
... w/o the period at the end - was not tested by the poster I guess. Maybe it's the missing period in the sprite3 dll code! :(
