I hope i can get some help with this one & explain my specific situation.

We are buying a competitor in our market and i am wondering the best way to manage the Adwords account without "double serving".

* We are selling similiar but unique products (no one product will be exactly the same on both websites).
* They have completely seperate websites
* BUT we will be competing for the same/similiar keywords.

How is best to manage the changeover in Adwords?
Do I setup a sub account or leave them seperate?

Help is much appreciated.

My situation: 2 brands and websites with different but also some overlap in products. They both have some unique products (blue widgets on site a and red widgets on site b) but also some identical products (green widgets). Both brands are also bidding for the same generic terms (widgets).

I have got 2 different accounts and an MCC on top of that. The MCC also has some accounts totally not related to

Have separate accounts. If you run separate campaigns under one account, for keywords common to both campaigns, the impressions would be shared which is something you would want to avoid.

sometimes doubleserving is good
just make sure they arent competing for the same positions

Thanks for the advice. I Will run them on seperate accounts.

"just make sure they arent competing for the same positions"

Is this to avoid double serving or because i dont want to drive up the price of the keywords i will be bidding for?
Some terms are so key to both brands that i may need to bid for them both...

doubleserving = good
driving up price = bad

use position preferances for one of the accounts to be position
1-3 and the other to be 4-8
or 4-6 and the other to be 7-10+
