Hi guys,
I have a dilemma that repeats itself over and over and I would like to know your opinion about it:

Let's say I have a service that promote chefs. As I understand, there are several ways to promote it:

Using the keyword "chef" in broad:
- I'll get way too many clicks from people who's looking for Chef magazine. chef's recipes, etc'..

I can start writing more specific terms in phrase match like: [chef LA, chef Los Angeles, Chef NY, Chef New York, etc...]

Or, I can do "Chef" in broad + hundreds of negative keywords...

what do you think?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, thefish!

I'd check out this recent thread covering the benefits of different match type strategies.

There are pluses and minuses to each strategy - hopefully, the different points of view allows you to find the best strategy for your situation. Good luck!

One key to Adwords is to think out of the box.

You are playing a giant word association game in a mathematical setting. Sometimes you have to go against the pack and compete for a keyword that nobody would never think of competing for.

Reverse Engineer your thinking and be specific in two or three word phrases.

I see some eyebrows going up!
