Hi,

I am trying to target All languages in my campaign settings but under language targeting, there is no option called "All Languages". How can I display my ads to languages other than displayed in the select box.

You select all languages by "shift+select". For some reason, all languages is gone for quite a bit of some time.

you can no longer select all languages through the web interface
preexisting campaigns (to this change) are unaffected

there is a work around to get all languages however what smallcompany suggests will not do the trick (almost, but no).

there is almost no good reason to do this though and in my experiance this can have a negative effect on QS

If there is a work around to have "All Languages" selected for a campaign, how can it be done? Is there a hidden trick to activate this option in the Adwords account?

There's no hidden trick - the workaround is precisely what smallcompany advised... selecting all languages individually is the only method opting in to "all languages" for newer campaigns.

The "all languages" option may still show for older, legacy campaigns - but it had been phased out of newer campaigns well over 6 months ago. The reason I was given is that too many advertisers lazily selected the "all languages" option w/o considering the consequences. At least with using "Shift+select", you've got to make a specific effort to do so...

it is possible through ... in adwords editor

It's not in Version 6.0.1. From the Editor "Language Targeting" options:

"Select the languages you want to target with this campaign. Hold down the Ctrl or Command key and click to select several languages.

Languages:

English
Arabic
Bulgarian
Chinese (simplified)
etc. etc. etc.

ok i just tested it using a test account
deselect whatever language that is set ie. english
1. edit language targeting
2. cntrl+click the highlighted language in adwords editor to deselect
3. click OK
4. post changes (this will change the campaign back to the old all languages option)

after you test this poster_boy i expect an apology in this thread

orim please tell us what language you are targeting: i am very curious?

Neat trick. But, how is this method superior to the method smallcompany suggested, per this comment:

this trick will actually select all languages same as the old option
whereas what smallcompany suggests will only select some or most langueges depending on where its done (adwords editor or the web interface)

i still maintain that campaigns should be language specific but...... orim said he had a genuine need and poster_boy accused me of being a genuine idiot

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, cyberandroid. You'll have a far more rewarding experience on this site - with the diversity of opinions & perspectives - if you dial back your sensitivity and focus on the topics at hand.

Does selecting "all languages" in this manner opt you into languages that are not included in the default list?

i was exagerating but this is the 4th time in a row you have suggested im wrong

please test it for yourself on a live account and report back
make the change in editor then look in campaign settings online
dont click edit however because then it will force you to pick from the list and all langueges will not be available

the answer is yes

to test use google ad preview tool (supports more then 40 languages)

A few more notches on that sensitivity dial, cyberandroid...

Clearly, I didn't know about this capability - but my questions have been solely for the purpose of learning more. Thanks for sharing this tip.

i think your confusing the sensitivity dial for the volume

sometimes undocumented features disapear when spoken aloud
i was kinda hoping that i would get a pm from orim after post 3

if it were up to me google would remove all languages and all countries from all accounts

well now that i think about it they kinda removed all languages and kinda removed all countries

sometimes the cure is worse then the disease
re: position preference or dki
(im convinced that for most users both are detrimental)

cyberandroid, thank you for your smart trick on simulating "All Languages" option using Adwords Editor. Actually, I was out of the town and that's why I couldn't contribute in this conversation. I will try the method and I will let you know if it's working for me or not.

its not simulating anything
it is the old all languages option

it just is not selectable in the web interface
