Hi, I'm new here and I'm really and still confused about this match types:Negative Broad, Negative Phrase and Negative Exact..Could pls anyone from here explain it to me?

For example this is for discount auto parts and my keyword is discount harley davidson parts the negative would be harley davidson. What would be the negative match type for harley davidson. and pls explain to me why? and also this Negative Broad, Negative Phrase, and Negative Exact.

Your answers would be a great help to me..Thank you so much...

Well

Broad Match for your keyword "discount harley davidson parts":

- would show up your ad based on this keyword phrase when user search for anything related like for discount on harley davidson or merely for davidson...

Phrase Match for your keyword "discount harley davidson parts":

- will show your ads only when user search for this whole keyword phrase in simillar order along with or without any work/phrase in his search query like for example - 'Discount harle davidson parts information'

Exact Match for your keyword "discount harley davidson parts"

- will bring out your ads only when user search exactly for your phrase i.e. discount harley davidson parts

WHile,
negative keywords = means the keywords for what you dont want to show up your ads... like here you can add any word or phrase like cheap or something for what you dont want to show up your ad simply

I hope it may help you :)

personal opinion: in your specific case (I do not have a Harley - but a metallic red Honda VTX1300 retro, vance & hines pipes, kuryakin grips and all --a real head turner), I do some time type in honda vtx just to browse what is available out there for me. So in your situation, I would use the KW suggestion tool, type in Harley davidson, and just select my negatives from there. Again personal opinion, I would start with negs in phrase or exact mode if I were you. broad negatives tend to cut down on traffic too much...

I am assuming that you already have a large list of broad negatives in the campaign level right? (free, bank, credit card, girls, videos, etc)

You would want to go with:

-"harley davidson" or
-harley

The negative phrase match, will eliminate any keyword search with "harley davidson" in it. But it won't eliminate "harley discount parts" -- You'd need the regular Negative Broad match for: harley.

I use the negative exact match, when I advertising a specifc brand and its products. So if I had ad groups for Honda Civic, Honda Accord and a General Honda one; I would have -[honda civic], and -[honda accord] in my General Honda ad group, while having the exact match terms in those ad groups. So hopefully, Google will never match those terms back to my general Honda ad group (becuase the ad copy and landing page isn't as relevant in the General group).
