1. I eventually understood what "content pages" are (no, I'm not English spoken so it's not obvious) and I suppose that's where image ads ends up. Since I have groups with both text ads and image ads mixed, I realize that I might split them up into one group with image ads and one with text ads to keep track of which one generates best CTC, right?
Question: I have read that you are "copying" a group and would like to do that and then deleting text ads from one and image ads from the other, but have not found a way to do this copying. How do I do it? Or is it merely a casual phrase you are using?
2. Where can I see what normal, good or poor CTC really are? In one group, I have 2.3% with a thousand impressions. In another 0% with a hundred impressions. In a third I have 0% with only two impressions (all three campagns have been live only 3 days...). I suppose the first with 2.3% CTC is OK, but not sure, and I have no idea how many impressions I need before I can gouge the two 0% CTC groups. So, where can I find some stats to lean on?
That's for now. In an hour I'll probably return with yet another post. Bear with me.
TIA
Dan
I'll try to help you the best I can - I don't use the content networks personally, but I know a little about it.
You are right in your presumption that Image ad's are shown on the content networks. You do not need to create two identical ad groups, as the CTR for each different ad is shown next to the ad.
I don't believe there is an easy way of copying an ad group, but you could just put the same keywords in more than one group.
On your final question, what click through rate is ok or good really depends on the keyword and position of your ad's. The more specific the keyword and the higher the position the higher the click through rate should be. The best thing to do is probably to try a number of different ad's and see which performs best.
As for how long you should leave ad's, that depends on you really and how long you are prepared to wait to see results. Whether the campaign is making money is profitable is what is really important.
The only nessessity is that your keywords perform well enough so that they are not disabled or slowed by google. At the moment a keyword can recieve 1000 impressions, during which time it must get a minimum CTR of .5% for it too remain active. This system is changing soon, and the number of impressions allowed will depend on the specific keyword you are using.
Hope this helps - any further questions just ask.
Cheers,
Rich

This is usually a casual phrase to duplicate a group, however, if you have bulk upload - you are copying and pasting the group in a spreadsheet and just changing the adgroup/campaign in the sheet.
As far as CTR goes - there is no 'normal'. AWA has stated that he belives the average is about 2% for all ads. It's common to see a lower rate for very general keywords, and a higher rate for very specific keywords. There are a lot of variables that determine CTR, the three most imporntant being the ad copy itself, ad position, and keyword.
This post: [webmasterworld.com...] has some information about what is significent. (However, I'm sure there are more recent ones that are better - it's amazing how much more sophisticated this entire board seems compared to the post above).
