I've been messing around with adwords trying to get $.01 clicks for my banner ads. I seem to have noticed that the only way to start getting a lot of impressions at $.01 is to first set the bid higher, like to around $.07 and set a high daily bid, around $500 or more. Then it seems to start showing in a higher volume and once you move it back down to $.01 it keeps on going. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. It must be something with the algorithm and from what I understand Google wants to show the ads with high CTR which mine always seem to have but it won't give you the chance if you start off bidding at $.01. Does anyone know if Google eventually stops showing your ad again if you keep it at that price?

janson, I don't know if this is still the case, but that's how I used to lower my CPC's. I would blow out my max CPC and daily budget to get Google to serve my ad a lot, and then as my CTR went up my CPC would lower at the same time. And then I would lower my max CPC again because I had accrued CTR history.

Now, this was a while ago I would do this regularly, not sure how much Google gives now for this. But wanted to share my experience.
