Anyone care to guess what Google's average cost per click was July-Sept?

I would say higher than .51 cents more like .91 or $1.25

Whatever it is, it's a lot more than Overture.

^ Do you think so?

For my two biggest clients, both of which do substantial advertising on both services, the average CPC is higher at Overture.

But it's basically impossible to really know what position you were at for the CPC price on Google. Overture it's simple. If you're CPC prices look the same on both programs, I'll bet your average position is lower on Google than Overture.

I am finding that consistent work on a focussed campaign in Google has the reward of uncovering terms and phrases that will generate much lower costs than I expected. Enough of this work could create a winnowing process that could bring the cost of a clicks lower progressively over time. I also think the response rate on Google (for search only in my case) is miles better than ppcs (indluding Overture) I have tried. Best, S

Right on target BostonSEO. Barely a week goes by that I'm not comparing CPC's between G&O for new terms/campaigns. G is almost always more expensive and often times twice as expensive as O.
