An influential associate of mine (no names) applied for an invitation to the beta, 2 weeks ago, but there's been no reply, and he's getting annoyed (as influential people often do) that Google isn't doing backflips to push his application through.
What can I say? Google's smaller projects don't exactly have a call center and support staff, and unless you have Larry's home number you can't expect special consideration in a case like this.
Is Ad Manager like Gmail, where you could get an invitation from someone already in the program?
