Keyword Destination URL stops working

clicks now use ad url - why?

I have lots of adgroups with lots of keywords and every one has its own keyword destination url because of tracking purposes. This worked for over a year, but today for one certain keyword it stopped working. All clicks on this keyword now use the ad url.

I didn't change anything and have no idea what could be the reason. Also, all the other keywords are still fine. Only this one uses the wrong URL.

Any ideas what could cause these problems?

beats me - the only thing remotely related to that, that I can think of, is a rule which will be put into effect in April - all destination URL's will have to match the display URL. I don't think this is anything to do with your problem though :/

Thanks T_Media, I also thought about this and checked several times. But: ad url and keyword destination URL both are for one of my tracking servers and redirect to the real url - the only difference is in the ad url I have '999999' instead of the keyword as a parameter. So I don't think it has anything to do with it...

Well, it seems to be fixed now. The url is back to keyword destination URL. Still no idea what exactly happened.

Sujan, given that everyone on this forum is stumped, including me (and also given that I've seen the exact same question posted in another forum, also without any answers) I hope you'll consider asking the question of AdWords support - making sure to point them to the right campaign > ad group > keyword.

Since the support team can look into the actual account, they may well be able to get to the bottom of what you are seeing - or escalate to the tech folks if need be.
