I never met a Scandinavian who didn't speak better english than me! And I'm British. Sometimes I think they prefer speaking English.

Adwords in Swedish illustrates an interesting problem with translations. Not that there is anything wrong. The translation is 100% correct. But..... The original English version is written in a compelling advertising prose, presumably by a professional American copywriter. The Swedish translation is just plain Swedish. Not the sort of stuff that makes people ask where the dotted line is and reach for their credit cards.

When this issue was discussed in the European forum, a year or so ago, it was noted that one cannot expect even a highly professional translator to emulate advertising prose. The additional services of a skilled local copywriter are needed.

So, translating this for people who read English better than any other non-English speaking Europeans may actually do more harm than good.

>>Tivoli Gardens ;)

I actually ran away from home at the age of 10 when living in Copenhagen, and spent my money on Ice Cream and entry to Tivoli Gardens, spent the night at a train station, and returned home the next day after a police hunt failed to find me.
