This is a very simple question which I know is a first grade SEO.
Why would my adds jump up and down like a yoyo. There stable for 2-3 days the jump...
We see positions for 1 – 7 with the showing not at all for hours.
It just kills our convention which some times hits 10% to 3%.
Dose the old adage of just uping the bids for 50c to $2.00 for a while then lowering the slowly work or is this just a myth.
I quality score is good by the way.
I have doing this for a a few year it just wild.

Thanks for any incite.

If you're in a really competitive market then there will be plaenty of new advertisers coming in all the time, each one of them will make an impact on your ad position.

Another explanation could be that google is testing your CTR in different positions so that it can determine what your true CTR is relative to position.

Mine tend to stay stable at the top. I set my max CPC higher than average and then simply work on my CTR. Lowering your actual max CPC afterwards will make no difference, but you will automatically pay less if your CTR increases above the competition.

Make sure you check your ads using the Ad Preview Tool [google.com]. If you're checking your ads regularly without it, you will not see the same thing as what the typical user sees.

if your competitors are using ad scheduling you won't see their ads at certain times.
