I've managed the Adwords campaigns of a client for about a year now. He owns several (semi)-adult sites. His campaigns have been running steady for months and months until now. I had one adgroup which contains keywords that could be considered adult keywords but it did describe the services he is offering. Also, 9 out of 10 sites that advertise on those keywords are of the same nature.
Now what is the problem. Before, I had several occassions where Google decided to classify the ad in this adgroup as 'adult' so it wouldn't show anymore when those keywords were typed-in. But I found when I just deleted the ad and entered again the classification would be gone and the adgroup would run for months again. Now suddenly this stopped working and I can't get the adgroup to run again. Everytime it needs to get the ad humanly checked and then it gets the adult classification again.
Now I'm trying to figure out how Google works in this matter. An Adwords specialist told me that there is an automatic process of determing an ad (or keywords?) are adult. But I think it has something to do with the domainname too. I think now, when it gets a adult classification ONE time, that domain is done and can never advertise on non-adult keywords again.
I hope this problem is a little bit understandable because it's all in my head and maybe I didn't explain it very well. :)
Anyway, would anybody know a solution to this problem or maybe breakdown how Google works and how I can get that adgroup to run again?
Thank you very much!
Now, you ask how you could "cheat" on them again, since your tactics stopped working.
Please don’t get me wrong, I have no idea what those sites are about nor anything about your keywords.
It may simply be that campaigns in question have been going through for some time, and not anymore.
If you ever asked somebody from Google’s policy team to tell you if you would be allowed to advertise on Google with that type of keywords and more importantly sites, you would maybe always get an answer “No”.
Again, based on your question:
Anyway, would anybody know a solution to this problem or maybe breakdown how Google works and how I can get that adgroup to run again?
You’ve been banned, now you want to go out again, somehow.
Sorry, I know I wasn’t of any help in the way you’ve been expecting.
I finally got on AdWords chat, found a representative who was cooperative, and he got the review team to approve my ads.
Maybe I'm the one squeaky wheel in my niche, because I don't see other AdWords ads that contain brand names of guns.
I gave him the URL to Google search pages that have dozens of AdWords ads for the accessories I sell. I just made it clear that it was necessary for me to mention brand names so that I wouldn't be getting clicks from people searching for accessories for brands that I don't carry.
Have you tried a direct route like this?
I suspect this may happen simply because the potential to insert offensive keywords opens up if there are dynamic ad templates in the system even if the ones put in initally don't violate any guidelines.
