I have a PPC account with YSM & MSN AdCenter as well as my Adwords account, but - I'm still in the process of building my adgroups and adding keywords with all 3 of them! I'm becoming a little confused, doing all 3 at the same time:

- Should I get Google all sorted first and then move onto YSM and then MSN?

- Would you use the same Ad Group for each PPC engine, with the same keywords (where applicable) in each Ad Group?

- When split testing would you use the same headings, ad body & landing page for each PPC Ad Group in each? For example, have the Ad Group 'Red Widgets' in Adwords split testing the same ads, as what are in the MSN 'Red Widgets' Ad Group or take the opportunity to test more ads and get more info on which ads work and which don't?

- If, in Adwords, I was to include the 'Search Network' (as I currently only have 'Google Search' checked), is it simple to find out from the reports if this is a profitable move or not? I.e find out how much traffic & conversions are coming from the 'Google Search' vs how much is coming from the 'Search Network'? I'd be willing to give it a 'trial run' if the answer is yes.

Many thanks in advance, I'll get back with more questions if and when they come to me.

IMHO

Yes sort google first. For simplicity sake you can use the same ad groups and keywords for Msn and yahoo but the latter 2 may rewrite your ads anyway.

Use Google to test different ad texts- it is more straightforward. Run 2-3 different ads for each campaign.

Start with google search only and see what spend and results you get. Add in search network and content only if you feel you need to. Monitor closely. Watch for odd click patterns.

I would. Yahoo will format your keywords (per their canonical keyword structure) - so you cannot use Yahoo as the master template... and MSN allows more campaigns, ad groups and keywords per ad group than does Google - so you cannot use MSN as the master template either. Google is also just more significant - so it's a better use of your time to craft your campaigns with Google top of mind anyway.

Would you use the same Ad Group for each PPC engine, with the same keywords (where applicable) in each Ad Group?

I would. But, be prepared for Yahoo to format your keywords differently - making cross-engine comparisons difficult.

I would. But, just note - Yahoo has slightly different character limitations than does Google (longer title, combined description lines), but you can still use Google as your master template.

Yes - you can pull reports splitting out Search versus Content performance. But, as the last poster stated - I'd get familiar with Search before diving into other distribution channels.

Good luck!
