AdWords links don't show up

Hi everyone! I am thinking to sign up my new site for Google AdWords. But the problem is that when I started reviewing what it's all about I searched for several keywords in Google to see how it works and Google showed the ads on the right side of the screen with the sites addresses underneath them in green color, but it didn't display the links to those sites. First I thought it could be a browser (IE6) doesn't output the page correctly, so I tried Mozilla Firefox from a different machine, but only got the same results. Is there something really wrong with their system or is it the way they did it on purpose? It looks like it doesn't matter what I am looking for, but it just keeps displaying the same results.

It sounds as though there's an ad blocker running on the computers you used. Norton, perhaps? Turn it off and the ads should behave properly again.

Thank you BuckWorks! I wouldn't thought about that, for the Ad blocker usually stops the pop up ads not the built-in ones. But it worked. Lots of people today have the ad blocker installed on their machines and more and more people are installing it on their machines everyday, pehaps not even realizing it, for now it comes with Norton Internet security, MS Servise Pack 2 and who knows what else. Wouldn't it dramatically reduce your CTR and leave the AdWords to be senseless?

See my post on another thread on this same issue:

You don't have to disable your ad blocker entirely, just reconfigure it to remove the "adclick" entry that causes the AdWords hyperlinks to be disabled.

This problem seems to be fixed now. I have tested & verified no problems with NPF, and have re-enabled conversion tracking with no problems over last two days. Amazing what a little research and persistance will accomplish. I even had a nice "Thank You" email from the Google folks!

It is not just Norton. These days you have to look at other firewalls with ad blockers, such as Kerio Personal Firewall or WinXP SP2. I had upgraded Kerio recently and didn't know it blocked AdSense.

I stand corrected. The original problem I reported is fixed, which is good news for all conversion trackers, but there are still a small number of ads whose headlines are not visible or clickable. Since mine are no longer affected, I haven't really dug into it, but apparently Google still hasn't adequately tested for various ad sources, options and special coding that they insert to make sure it isn't being blocked.
