I noticed that when I run a keyword report in AdWords, sometimes the Keyword min. CPC in that report differs from the min. CPC in AdWords Editor.

When I go to make a bid change via AdWords Editor, the min. CPC in Editor is anywhere from $.10 to $4 higher than Keyword report AND online console.

Anyone else notice this? I'm waiting for Google reps response.

I noticed it as well. even though the other statistics provided in the editor such as impressions and clicks are the same numbers as in the web-based platform or the "online console" as you call it.

So...just a "glitch" or just a way for them to may a little more $$ from those that don't catch it...hmmmmm.

Here's response from my rep:

"Thank you for your patience while I looked in to this issue for you. Our
technical team has let me know that our system does not update minimum
CPCs in AdWords Editor so it is typically outdated for all users. The 'Get
Recent Changes' feature doesn't download minimum CPC changes, however you
can get the right minimum CPC if you do a 'Get Full Account' download
instead. If you do not do this, the minimum CPC will only be updated with
'Get Recent Changes' if there actually was a change made to the keywords
directly through the AdWords interface (such as a bid change).

As far as maximum CPCs go these should be updated in AdWords Editor,
including after a 'Get Recent Changes' update. In keyword updates in the
account, it will only show the current maximum CPC. If you run a daily
keyword report, it wont have the maximum CPC that it was for each
particular day.

Two things that they suggested doing is to get a 'Get Recent Changes'
update. This should sync up the maximum CPCs. They then suggested to make
sure you are looking at the correct columns when comparing data. Most of
the examples sent in your email seem to be just the minimum CPC and
maximum CPC listed in reverse order. If none of these measures work,
completing a 'Get A Full Account' update should sync everything up."

Does the Get Full Account wipe out any comments you may have made? I had the impression it did; maybe I'm wrong.

netmeg -- 'Get Full Account' through AdWords Editor will wipe out any comments you have made in addition to changes you have not yet posted to the account. However, comments will be preserved if you perform 'Get Recent Changes.'

That's what I thought. So Get Full Account isn't a very good option if you tend to extensively annotate your accounts.

I've passed along the comments in this thread to the AdWords Editor team, and they got back to me with the work-around below. I recognize that it isn't exactly ideal - but these things do tend to get improved over time. ;)

[...]'Get Full Account' through AdWords Editor will wipe out any comments you have made in addition to changes you have not yet posted to the account. However, comments will be preserved if you perform 'Get Recent Changes.'

That's what I thought. So Get Full Account isn't a very good option if you tend to extensively annotate your accounts.

Here's the workaround:

If you'd like to ensure you have the latest minimum CPC bids, while keeping comments, please follow these steps:

1. Export your account for archiving (File menu > Export for Archiving). This step ensures you won't lose unposted changes or comments.

2. Download your account (Account menu > Get Full Account). Your minimum bids will be included in the download.

3. Import the archive file to restore your unposted changes and comments (File menu > Import Account Snapshot).

Hope that helps!
