Analytics showing (not set) for 30% of traffic

(not set) showing for 30% of traffic with an Adwords/Analytics account

Hi, I'm new here, but not to PPC and online marketing. We use Google Analytics for some info, but don't rely on it heavily. However, we'd like to use it to see traffic sources. Unfortunately, the account we have linked to our Adwords account is showing 30% of traffic as ((not set)(not set)). Currently we have Adwords set to auto-tag our URLs, but I'm wondering if this is breaking it somehow. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andrew Nagy

I think we had this problem before too...we had google's auto-tags set to tag our urls, but they didn't seem to be working. What we did was change the format of our urls from .htm extensions to .asp. I'm not sure what it was that needed to be changed, but our google rep informed us that our current urls wouldn't work properly with the autotags.

Call up google, or your team if you have one, and ask if your urls are going to work with the auto tags. You may need to change the destination urls.

btw...are you hungarian?

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I suppose I will call Google up, I just wanted to see if there was some obvious thing I was doing wrong.

And yes, I am 1/4th Hungarian (though I was born and raised in the US). Do you know someone with the same last name? If so, I'm curious as to how they pronounce it.

I've had this problem on a few campaigns in the past too - auto-tagging not working, or causing other problems etc. Does anyone have the technical background to explain why? (don't have that background myself). I've heard others mention that changes need to be made to the site's servers also - anyone know if this is true? What changes need to be made etc?
